WASHINGTON: US biotech firm Moderna’s  vaccine for the COV-ID 19 coronavirus has shown a tremendus immune response and prevented the virus from defecting in the noses and lungs of monkeys, showed a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Tuesday.

The fact that the vaccine helps to stop the virus from replicating in the nose is seen as particularly difficult in preventing it from being transfer onward to others.

The same result did not occur when the University of Oxford’s vaccine was tested on monkeys, though that vaccine did stop the virus from entering the animals’ lungs and making them very sick.
